Wowee, back from the hiatus.

Okay not much of a hiatus, i erm well crashed my previous computer and that's why i have not been blogging. Or being online as often as i used to be.

The drastic exams are over, and the results can be really really disheartening. I mean we get like twenty percentage passes in class, or even worse, 3 in a whole class for econs. Sometimes i wonder if the paper is uber hard or maybe it's the standard of the students. I cannot really question the standard of the students cos i see people getting like almost full marks for tests consistently and i can't see how or why they can actually fail an exam. So if the paper is seriously too hard, then why is the school allowing it to happen?

Most people would say, motivation. I have no idea, but i beg to differ. Maybe it's because people work differently. But i'll say that this method really would not work for me. U see, i feel that the better i do, the more confidence i have and with more confidence comes the motivation to study harder and attempt the harder questions faced. This is called progression. Not being thrown into a sea of ridiculously hard questions and expect oneself to swim with ease. No float is given and mind u, this sea isn't the dead sea. Students struggle and what happens? They leave so many questions blank, wondering if they have really studied when they actually did do their best. They get disheartened and as time passes by, they won't even bother to try cos the feeling of " there's no point trying, i can't do it" sinks in.

THAT'S WHY THINGS SHOULD GET PROGRESSIVELY HARDER. Not from the start. Scaring students like that isn't going to work. Maybe some people just get this perverse sadistic pleasure of failing the whole cohort. But is that what is going to push students harder? Really, these students not only have to face their parents at home, but their peers in other schools. What would they think? I cannot imagine.

That aside, Italy won the world cup. And i supported France. Cos i love that country. Haha. And my friends and i were discussing that day having Singapore host the world cup would be a REALLY BAD IDEA. Haha imagine at the stadium, say Singapore vs England. I bet not only the English supporters would be there cheering their guts out for their country, and what about us? Cheering for the english too! What a sight. Haha really Singapore in the world cup by 2010? Cool. Anyway my friend shared with me that in the group stages, singapore was ranked third in their group. I was like COOL! Well, it was until i found out that there were FOUR countries in a group. So singapore was basically 3/4. Well, improvement anyway, so next world cup, they can get in. I shall be anticipating that.

Oh and i love johnny depp. He's so hot. Can't wait till pirates of the caribbean opens.
